Raisan Hameed has been selected for the Risographie Residency at the Penumbra Foundation in New York City with his work Embers of Narrative . With Embers of Narrative , Raisan Hameed successfully completed his master's degree with Prof Tina Bara at the HGB last semester.
Based on personal experiences,Raisan Hameed deals with the connections between war, migration and memory. Using private and public, analogue and digital image archives, he explores the effects of historical and geopolitical events on individual and collective history. In his work, the artist examines the traces of destruction left behind by violent conflicts in Iraq and in his home town of Mosul.
The Penumbra Foundation's Risograph Residency offers artists the opportunity to propose a photographic project that can be produced in print form at the Risograph workshops in New York City as part of the residency. The publications are to be realised by autumn 2025.
